Scotland, Charles I Unit, third coinage, Briot’s issue. Very choice example

Scotland, Charles I Unit, third coinage, Briot's issue 1637-42. Crowned monarch holding sceptre and orb, wearing ornate armour, B sideways to the left of crown, reverse, crowned shield C R either side, S.5531.

This is a superb example, highly struck with a beautiful original red lustre. It is currently slabbed by NGC as MS61+, this seems overly strict for this example.

Monarch: Charles I

Date: 1629-49
